Job summary

FrankCrum is seeking a full-time Premium Auditor in Clearwater, Florida to audit commercial policyholder records—payroll, tax returns, and ledgers—to determine premium exposures.

You will review payroll, accounting, and operations to ensure correct classifications and computations, and communicate findings to clients and internal teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Accounting, Finance, Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Knowledge of Premium Audit and Underwriting principles, NCCI Basic Manual Rules, and Labor Codes.
  • 4–5 years of experience in Workers’ Compensation/General Liability insurance operations or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Perform premium audit of policyholder financial records to determine final exposures.
  • Review payroll, accounting, and operations to ensure correct classifications and insurability.
  • Prepare audit reports and supporting work papers.
  • Communicate audit findings to internal teams and external customers.
  • Maintain audit processes, policies, and procedures per guidelines.
  • Ensure conformity to state laws and regulations for the audit period.

The Role You'll Play to Create Success

We are excited to announce our search for a full-timePremium Auditor! In this role, you will have the opportunity to impact the FrankCrum business everyday by performing quality premium auditing of commercial policyholder operations and financial records including company payroll, bank statements, profit and loss statements, tax returns, general ledger, cash disbursements, and expense ledgers to determine final exposures and premium adjustments on auditable commercial lines policies.



  1. Performs primarily virtual/hybrid reviews of policyholder’s payroll, accounting, and financial records to determine final exposures on auditable commercial lines policies.

  2. Reviews policyholder’s business operations to determine correct classification(s) and identifying factors affecting insurability.

  3. Ensures that audited exposures (payroll, sales, fixed assets, etc.) are accurately calculated within strict insurance guidelines.

  4. Communicates audit findings through detailed formal reports supported by audit workpapers.

  5. Reviews appropriate audit documentation and/or company policy systems, to determine auditable exposures and coverages provided by the policy and plan audit strategy.

  6. Investigates policyholder operations to obtain actual exposures, verify classifications as they apply to the policy and ensure conformity to various state laws and insurance regulations for the appropriate audit period.

  7. Prepares detailed work papers and written correspondence in support of audit findings.

  8. Provides external customers (i.e., agents and insureds) and internal customers (i.e., underwriting, policy processing, claims and accounting) with information to assist in their understanding of audit-related matters, including audit exposures, procedures, and worksheets.

  9. Discusses issues and problems with the insured to ensure understanding of the change in premium exposures and to maintain good customer relations.

  10. Remains informed of changes and current information relative to premium auditing through discussion and correspondence with experts and industry-related literature.

  11. Maintains Premium Audit processes, policies, and procedures.

  12. Facilitates, interprets, and apply auditing rules and regulations per Company and Bureau guidelines.

  13. Compiles and distributes any audit process changes, class code changes, etc. from regulatory partners (NCCI), (PAAS/ISO), State OIR Bureaus.


The Attributes We Seek

Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Accounting, Finance, Management, Business Administration, a related field, or equivalent experience.
Knowledge of Premium Audit and Underwriting principles, NCCI Basic Manual Rules, and the application of Labor Codes.
4-5 years of experience in Workers’ Compensation/General Liability insurance operations or any equivalent combination of education, and training.
