Job summary

Archdiocese of Philadelphia Secondary Schools seeks a PreK3 Lead Teacher to nurture spiritual, cognitive, and social development in three-year-olds within a Christ-centered setting.

You will implement faith formation, co-lead a play-based curriculum with grade partners, and maintain a warm, structured classroom routine while engaging families and diocesan educators in ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or Elementary Education.
• Practicing Catholic preferred; must actively support the mission, ethos, and teachings of the Catholic Church.
• Valid state teaching credential or early childhood certification and completion of diocesan Safe Environment (e.g., VIRTUS) background screening.

Responsibilities

• Faith Formation: Lead age-appropriate prayers, introduce simple Bible stories, and cultivate a classroom environment rooted in Christian love and respect.
• Curriculum & Instruction: Plan and execute, with 2 grade partners, a developmentally appropriate, play-based curriculum focused on sensory exploration, social-emotional growth, fine/gross motor skills, and introductory literacy and numeracy skills.
• Classroom Management: Establish a warm, predictable routine that promotes independence and positive behavior. Assist students with self-care habits, emotional regulation, and bathroom routines as needed.
• Parent & Community Engagement: Maintain regular, transparent communication with families regarding student progress, daily activities, and developmental milestones through conferences and newsletters.
• Professional: Collaborate with early childhood colleagues, attend faculty meetings and diocesan professional development.
