Description

The PreK Teacher will be responsible for creating a nurturing and stimulating classroom environment for young children. The teacher will develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans, assess children's progress, and collaborate with parents to support the holistic development of each child.

Job Summary
  • Plan and implement engaging and developmentally appropriate lesson plans for young children.
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and welcoming classroom environment that promotes learning and social-emotional development.
  • Assess children's progress and individual needs to tailor instruction and support their growth.
  • Foster positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues to create a supportive learning community.
  • Incorporate play-based learning, hands-on activities, and creative experiences into daily lessons.
  • Support children's social-emotional development through modeling and teaching positive behaviors and conflict resolution skills.
  • Collaborate with PreK aide(s), early childhood colleagues, and other staff members to ensure a cohesive and effective learning environment.
  • Communicate regularly with parents or guardians to provide updates on children's progress and address any concerns or questions.
  • Plan and collaborate with colleagues to organize extraordinary events such as a Thanksgiving feast, Christmas celebration, Mother's Day event, and end-of-the-year program for students and families.
  • Work with other early childhood teachers to develop and implement a monthly enrichment program that enhances the curriculum and provides additional learning opportunities for students.
  • Coordinate with staff members to ensure successful execution of events and programs, including logistics, communication with parents, and student participation.

Qualifications
NJ Certifications
  • Previous experience instructing young children in a PreK or early childhood setting.
  • Knowledge of early childhood development theories and best practices.
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive and engaging learning environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Passion for working with young children and supporting their growth and development.
  • Ability to lift and carry young children.
  • Ability to stand, sit, and move around the classroom for extended periods.
  • Willingness to engage in physical activities with children during playtime.
Working Conditions

Catholic school environment, other duties assigned, three floors.
