Job summary

Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools is seeking a para-professional to work directly with a classroom teacher across academics, behavior and logistics in a school-based setting.

The role involves small group instruction, supervision and support with students, including personal care tasks, behavior monitoring, and implementing IEPs and safety plans. A relevant associate degree or Praxis certification is required, with 201 school days.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree or 48 hours of college credits or Praxis certification required.
• Prior experience working with children preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides small group instruction under certificated personnel.
• Facilitates and models appropriate social interactions and behaviors among students.
• Assists in the personal care of students (feeding, diapering, lifting, etc.).
• Monitors, collects and records students’ behavioral and/or academic performance as directed by the teacher.
• Supervises and engages with students during arrival, dismissal, lunch, and other activities designated by the teacher or administrator.
• Implements students IEPs, functional behavioral assessments, safety plans, and/or behavior intervention plans.
• Attends and actively participates in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and understanding of special populations.
• Maintains professionalism and confidentiality.
