Job summary

Ymca of Greater Omaha seeks a PreK Lead Teacher for a full-time role in Council Bluffs, IA. The position focuses on delivering quality early education, fostering achievement and belonging, and meeting Iowa licensing requirements.

Ideal candidates hold Iowa Early Education Licensure, are at least 18, and can plan developmentally appropriate activities while engaging families and the community. The YMCA offers generous benefits and a flexible, supportive work environment.

Qualifications

• Must hold Iowa Early Education Licensure.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.
• Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
• Complete before first shift: YMCA cause & culture training; curriculum training; all required abuse prevention training.
• Complete within 30 days of hire: BLS CPR; First Aid; Emergency Oxygen Administration (provided by YMCA).
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups and adhere to ADA compliance.
• Successful clearance of background check required.
• Follow youth boundaries policies and abuse risk management training.
• Report suspicious behavior and adhere to mandated abuse reporting.

Responsibilities

• Implements curriculum within the established guidelines.
• Nurtures children through purposeful programming to build achievement and belonging.
• Supervises children, classroom, and activities including ADA accommodations.
• Makes ongoing observations and evaluations of each child.
• Maintains positive relationships with parents; communicate effectively and engage volunteers.
• Maintains required program records.
• Keeps a clean and safe program site and equipment.
• Participates in program events and department trainings.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
