The YMCA of Greater Omaha in Council Bluffs, IA is seeking a Charles E. Lakin YMCA PreK Teacher – Part Time to support early childhood education and family engagement.

In this role you will implement the curriculum, nurture children, and maintain a safe, inclusive learning environment while communicating with parents and coordinating with YMCA staff. Qualifications

• Must hold Iowa Early Education Licensure.
• Ability to plan and implement age-appropriate activities.
• Experience with children in developmental settings preferred.
• Complete YMCA trainings on cause, culture, and curriculum.
• BLS/CPR and First Aid within 30 days of hire.
• Ability to relate to diverse groups and follow ADA compliance.
• Background check must be cleared.
• Follow youth boundaries and abuse reporting guidelines.
• Report any policy violations and maintain confidentiality.
• Commitment to the YMCA values and safety standards.

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Teachers/Facilitators provide a quality experience for children and parents that focuses on building achievement and belonging among youth and within their families.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Implements curriculum within the established guidelines.

2. Nurtures children through purposeful programming dedicated to building achievement and belonging.

3. Supervises the children, classroom, and all activities including ADA accommodations where appropriate. Follows all procedures and standards.

4. Makes ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child.

5. Cultivates positive relationships, conducts parent conferences, and maintains effective communication with parents. Engages parents as volunteers and connects them to the YMCA. 6. Maintains required program records.

7. Maintains a clean and safe program site and equipment.

9. Actively participates in program events and activities as assigned.

10. Actively participates in department, branch and association meetings and trainings.

11. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Meets educational and experience qualifications established by state licensing regulations.Must hold Iowa Early Education Licensure.

2. Must be at least 18 years of age

3. Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred

4. Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities

5. Complete before first shift: YMCA cause & culture training; curriculum training; all required abuse prevention training

6. Complete within 30 days of hire: BLS CPR; First Aid; Emergency Oxygen Administration (provided by YMCA)

7. Ability to relate effectively to and develop meaningful relationships with diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community, including ADA compliance.

8. Successful clearance of background check required

9. Follow youth boundaries policies and abuse risk management training.

10. Report suspicious behavior, policy violations, and adhere to mandated abuse reporting and responsibilities.
