Job summary

Marillac St. Vincent Family Services is seeking an Assistant Teacher for the PreK program in Chicago. The role supports a child development program, aligns with agency philosophy, and reports to the Child Development Supervisor and Director.

The position requires an Associate or Bachelor degree in Early Childhood Education, English proficiency, and a willingness to collaborate with a diverse team to foster emotional, social, and educational growth of very young children.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and speak English proficiently.
• Bilingual (Spanish) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create a secure environment that invites learning through exploration and discovery.
• Respectfully guide and implement family-style mealtimes, eating with the children to model healthy nutrition habits and table manners.
• Talk with children in ways that show respect, caring and build optimum self-esteem.
• Work collaboratively to assist children in resolving conflicts by using a problem-solving approach.
• Attend regularly to children's physical needs such as nose wiping, hand and face washing, toilet training and toilet accidents.
• Meet daily attendance and meal participation reporting requirements and protect confidentiality.
