Job summary

Hamilton-Wenham Regional School District in Wenham, MA seeks a 1.0FTE PreK-5 Special Education Coordinator to assist the Director of Student Services and building principals with oversight of special education and related therapies. Qualifications

• MA DESE Administrator licensure required or ability to obtain within first year.
• MA DESE Special Education licensure or related field licensure required.
• Proven leadership abilities in school/program/department administration and oversight, special education program development and evaluation, and staff supervision and evaluation.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in education including special education or related therapies services, experience as a Special Education Team Chairperson/Facilitator, or equivalent educational experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead eligibility determination processes from referral to team meeting facilitation.
• Facilitate OOD Team Meeting processes and monitor OOD students per MA DESE requirements.
• Collaborate with principals, curriculum leaders/coaches, district admins and general ed teachers on progress of students with disabilities.
• Coordinate and oversee the district Kindergarten Screening Process.
• Assist in hiring department staff per district practices.
• Schedule weekly coordination meetings with special education and related therapies staff at each elementary school.
• Assist with preparing financial and programmatic reports at district, state, and federal levels.
• Contribute to yearly department budget development, staffing, instructional materials, and professional development.
• Attend admin staff meetings and other professional meetings as appropriate.
• Lead professional development as needed.
• Other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Services.
