Responsibilities

• Lead a team of Preconstruction resources across multiple EPCM projects to ensure properly planned and coordinated construction packages from early design through transition to construction.

Job description

Jacobs’ Advanced Manufacturing group is seeking a proactive and resourceful Preconstruction Senior Manager. The Preconstruction Senior Manager will work to bridge the gap between engineering design and construction within necessary timelines, established budgets and exceeding the expectations of our clients. This role involves organizing, managing and directing a team of Preconstruction resources across multiple EPCM projects. The Preconstruction Senior Manager’s primary objective is to ensure projects are equipped with the resources to execute construction packages that are properly planned and coordinated from the early phases of design with a smooth transition into construction.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of Construction Package Development Specialists across a program of EPCM projects that require extensive communication with the design, procurement, scheduling and construction teams to develop plans, and mitigate risks against schedule, budget, safety or quality of the overall project.

• Participate as a key contributor and knowledge base for the overall design constructability and sequencing plan

• Drive collaboration between various stakeholders

• Know Client Expectations and Manage Client Interface

• Develop a standard for construction packages across disciplines in coordination with procurement, digital delivery and project controls teams

• Develop subcontracting and procurement strategies in collaboration with the construction management and procurement teams

• Lead planning efforts including strategy development, and execution with design, procurement and construction management teams to ensure efficient and timely flow of information

• Participate in large scale constructability reviews during design to identify the appropriate construction and trade resources for synchronized reviews.

• Coordinate with Jacobs safety, quality, project services and technical services groups to ensure a comprehensive preconstruction planning process

• Review and evaluate Project Risk Registers and Mitigation Plans

• Work to build a cooperative partnership between the client, contractor and all stakeholders to ensure a timely resolution of project issues and the overall success of the project.

Job Type: Full Time; Hybrid; Up to 50% travel

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture or equivalent degree; or equivalent years of experience in lieu of degree

• 15+ years experience in managing construction projects related to industrial and/or commercial facilities

• Field Construction Experience on active construction projects

• Effective communication and leadership skills

• Experience optimizing construction scheduling and sequencing

• Ability and willingness to travel to support project and client needs during planning, design, procurement and early construction phases. Travel requirements will vary based on project needs and may be up to 50% of working time, including extended periods at client sites, construction sites, fabrication facilities and project offices throughout North America. Travel frequency may fluctuate based on project lifecycle and business needs.

• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment while supporting project teams and stakeholders located across multiple time zones. This role requires a balance between remote work and in person participation for project meetings, workshops, client engagements, design reviews, constructability reviews, and execution planning sessions as required. Flexibility to support project needs outside the candidate’s local time zone is expected to accommodate.

Ideally, You’ll Also Have:

• Working knowledge of design and pre-construction, building systems/components and technology, contract management, project delivery methods, team building and client relationship building

• Advanced knowledge of MEP (Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing Systems), architectural systems, civil and structural systems, and/or general building construction and maintenance

• Knowledge and familiarity with developing and updating project schedules from Level 1 through Level 4 detail

• Data Center Experience is a plus
