Job summary

Pepper Construction is seeking a Preconstruction Engineer/Estimator to join our Cincinnati team. You will engage in early project planning, develop detailed estimates, and collaborate with design and operations to establish GMPs and bid documents.

Ideal candidates hold a 4-year degree in CM or engineering, have 2+ years of industry experience, and are skilled in pricing, quantity surveying, and value engineering across commercial markets.

Qualifications

• B.S./bachelor's degree preferred in CM or Engineering.
• 2+ years industry experience required.
• Experience in markets such as commercial office, healthcare, education, hospitality, industrial, interiors, manufacturing or retail preferred.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Join a dedicated team of commercial construction professionals working on unique projects that enhance the communities we serve. Preconstruction personnel are responsible for the activities that occur during the construction planning process. Preconstruction Engineer/Estimator will report to the Vice President of Preconstruction and work closely with the assigned Operations lead point persons during the preconstruction process. The construction planning process can begin as early as strategy and interview response to a Request For Proposal and reach typical completion with establishing a project Guaranteed Maximum Price and/or bidding completed documents prepared by the Design Team.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Preconstruction:

• Actively participate in winning work
• Perform detailed quantity surveys both manually and electronically
• Possess knowledge of and ability to develop detailed pricing
• Develop detailed scopes of work by trade
• Perform Value Engineering/Value Analysis
• Assist with developing comparable building analysis
• Assist with performing building systems analysis and constructability reviews
• Assist with developing conceptual estimates from limited information

Leadership

• Promote an environment that encouragestransparency, open communication and collaboration in a team environment with both internal and external clients.
• Provide leadership through building relationships, motivating others, providing clear direction, and cooperative teamwork

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• B.S. in Construction Management, Engineering or related technical area preferred
