Job description

Preconstruction Project Manager

Location(s): Chicago, IL, US, 60654

Job Overview

The main purpose of the Preconstruction Project Manager is to prepare onshore wind, solar, and energy storage projects for construction. Responsibilities include ensuring engineering is complete for bidding and construction, developing construction estimates, obtaining civil-based permits, managing Owner-Supplied Equipment, scheduling interconnection processes, addressing O&M needs in the BoP contract, aligning scopes of work for bidding, incorporating lessons learned, derisking projects, and facilitating unencumbered project completion once the contractor mobilizes.

Responsibilities
  1. Coordinate engineering and survey work, ensuring timely completion of geotechnical reports, wind civil engineering, HV, PV, and BESS engineering, including fire safety requirements.
  2. Manage topographic and ALTA surveys with Development to facilitate engineering progress.
  3. Oversee the process, timelines, and third-party engineers to produce necessary work.
  4. Participate in site optimization.
  5. Develop permitting plans for civil work-related permits with Engineering and Development teams.
  6. Prepare interconnection plans with Engineering, Transmission, Data Management, and Compliance teams.
  7. Coordinate with O&M to specify facilities, establish spares lists, and capture initial project setup requirements.
  8. Assemble scopes of work from Engineering teams.
  9. Coordinate with Procurement to ensure engineering, scopes, and documentation are ready for bidding or contractor negotiations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management preferred; extensive renewable energy project management experience also considered.
  • Minimum five years in renewable energy construction, engineering, and project management; PMP certification beneficial.
  • Ability to travel at least 25%.
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, with strong business acumen and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective at building relationships and communicating with diverse backgrounds.
Compensation and Benefits

Salary Range: $130,000 - $170,000 annually in Illinois, based on experience and qualifications.
