Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a skilled Preconstruction Manager in Fort Lauderdale to support complex water and wastewater projects, environmental and heavy civil work. You’ll review designs, develop work breakdown structures, and mentor a team while coordinating with contracts and vendors.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management, extensive project-estimating experience, and proficiency with industry tools like AutoCAD, Primavera P6, and Deltek Acumen.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management or similar; significant experience.
• Extensive background with water and wastewater construction including field experience.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Microstation, Bluebeam, Timberline, Excel, Primavera P6, Smartsheet and SQL-based databases.
• Demonstrated understanding of estimating structure and process, including takeoffs, crew development, productivity, quotations, escalation and risk models.
• Proficient in quantitative risk analysis using Deltek Acumen for schedule and cost analyses.
• Experience using Timberline and HCSS Heavy Bid.
• Understanding of scheduling; ability to use Primavera P6 and Smartsheet.
• Experience mentoring junior staff; ability to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Review proposals, conceptual designs, detailed design documents, attend meetings and sites to define scope and cost impacts.
• Lead and mentor a team to prepare estimates, develop WBS, takeoffs, and statements of work for subcontractors and vendors.
• Apply construction means and methods, prepare schedules, and calculate indirect owner costs.
• Collaborate with design teams on input quantity and quality for design-build estimates.
• Develop reports and presentations; analyze historical data to support estimates.
