Job summary

Orion Placement invites a Preconstruction Manager to join our Colorado team. You will lead preconstruction activities, develop budgets, and partner with clients and project teams to bring complex mechanical systems to life.

Responsibilities include managing conceptual budgets, detailed estimates, and proposals for HVAC, plumbing, piping, and sheet metal systems, while collaborating with owners, architects, engineers, and contractors to deliver effective mechanical solutions.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in mechanical construction estimating, preconstruction, design, or cost control.
• Experience developing budgets for complex mechanical systems.
• Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, piping, or commercial mechanical construction.
• Experience with design-build or design-assist project delivery.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project schedules.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Strong communication, negotiation, organization, and project management skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and estimating software; Bluebeam experience is relevant.

Responsibilities

• Lead preconstruction activities for commercial and industrial mechanical construction projects.
• Develop conceptual budgets, detailed estimates, and proposals for HVAC, plumbing, process piping, and sheet metal systems.
• Collaborate with owners, architects, engineers, and general contractors to develop mechanical solutions.
• Manage design-build and design-assist projects from concept through preconstruction turnover.
• Identify value engineering opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• Prepare and manage RFQs, RFPs, budgets, and negotiated proposals.
• Coordinate with estimating, purchasing, and operations teams for project execution.
• Build strong client relationships and pursue future opportunities.
