The candidate will lead a team and coordinate with design, engineering, and operations across multiple projects valued around $20M+. Base salary ranges from $120,000 to $140,000 per year with profit sharing, health benefits, and a 401k match.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of construction estimating or preconstruction experience.
• Experience with commercial or multifamily general contractors, including leadership in estimating roles.
• Experience supporting commercial construction projects valued at roughly $20M or greater.

Responsibilities

• Lead estimating and preconstruction activities across multiple projects valued at $20M+.
• Develop subcontractor bid packages and manage solicitations, proposals, and buyouts.
• Prepare conceptual and detailed cost estimates, budgets, and project pricing.
• Review subcontractor scope, identify gaps, and resolve pricing discrepancies.
• Coordinate civil/sitework, MEP, and other subcontracted scopes.
• Manage procurement, subcontractor negotiations, and project buyout prior to turnover.
• Review drawings and design documents to support estimating accuracy.
• Lead and mentor estimating staff and coordinate deliverables.

Preconstruction Manager - Construction - Base Salary to 140k/year - Austin, TX

• Our client is an established construction organization seeking an experienced Preconstruction Manager to oversee estimating, subcontractor procurement, bid management, and project pricing for large-scale construction projects. This fully remote opportunity supports projects utilizing modular construction and advanced building methods.
• The Preconstruction Manager will lead preconstruction activities for commercial, multifamily, student housing, mixed-use, and other large-scale building projects. This position is also suited to an experienced Senior Estimator with a general contractor background who has managed substantial project estimates, subcontractor bidding, and buyout activities and is prepared to assume broader preconstruction leadership responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

• Lead construction estimating and preconstruction activities across multiple projects valued at approximately $20M or greater.
• Develop subcontractor bid packages, manage bid solicitations, evaluate proposals, perform bid leveling, and coordinate subcontractor selection and buyout.
• Prepare and review conceptual estimates, detailed cost estimates, construction budgets, and project pricing.
• Evaluate subcontractor scope coverage, identify scope gaps, and review exclusions, qualifications, and pricing discrepancies.
• Estimate and coordinate civil construction, site development, sitework, earthwork, underground utilities, mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), and other subcontracted construction scopes.
• Manage preconstruction procurement, subcontractor negotiations, and project buyout activities before construction turnover.
• Review construction drawings, specifications, design documents, and subcontractor proposals to support accurate estimating and scope evaluation.
• Lead, mentor, and oversee estimating team members and coordinate estimating deliverables.
• Collaborate with design, engineering, construction management, operations, business development, and logistics teams throughout preconstruction.
• Participate in project kickoff meetings, subcontractor coordination meetings, site walks, and project handoffs.
• Support preconstruction planning and estimating coordination for projects incorporating modular construction methods.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of construction estimating or preconstruction experience.
• Experience with a commercial or multifamily general contractor, including Senior Estimator, Preconstruction Manager, or comparable estimating leadership responsibilities.
• Experience supporting commercial construction projects valued at approximately $20M or greater.
• Background in commercial construction, multifamily housing, student housing, mixed-use developments, or other large-scale building construction.
• Demonstrated experience managing subcontractor bidding, bid leveling, scope review, subcontractor procurement, and project buyout.
• Knowledge of civil construction, sitework, earthwork, underground utilities, and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) subcontractor scopes.
• Previous experience leading, mentoring, or overseeing construction estimating personnel.
• Ability to travel for onboarding, training, and periodic project site visits.

Compensation:

• Base salary in the 120k - 140k/year range
• Profit Sharing: Eligible for a profit-sharing opportunity equal to approximately 5% of base salary.
