About the Role

We are partnering with a national industrial and commercial construction services organization seeking a Preconstruction Manager to support its Southeast region. This position combines client relationship management with hands‑on leadership of project pursuits, guiding opportunities from initial identification through bid, award, or closeout.

Working in a seller/doer capacity, this leader will serve as a primary contact for key accounts and coordinate closely with estimating, operations, business development, and marketing. The right candidate brings strong preconstruction judgment, a client-focused approach, and the ability to turn opportunities into well‑planned, competitive proposals.

What You'll Do
  • Serve as the lead contact for assigned clients, key accounts, and project pursuits, building lasting relationships with general contractors, engineers, and industry partners.
  • Identify and qualify new project opportunities through client engagement, market research, networking, and collaboration with business development and marketing teams.
  • Lead preconstruction planning, including scope alignment, risk identification, value engineering, and constructability reviews.
  • Develop pursuit and win strategies, including go/no-go evaluations that align opportunities with regional objectives.
  • Lead requests for proposals and qualifications (RFPs/RFQs), coordinating timely, client-focused submissions.
  • Partner with estimating and operations to develop complete proposals, reliable pricing, schedules, and staffing and labor forecasts.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, client presentations, and interviews, bringing in technical subject matter experts as needed.
  • Collaborate with regional sales leadership on business plans and annual sales objectives.
  • Track opportunities, client interactions, and outcomes in the CRM, while communicating client feedback to internal teams.
  • Represent the organization at regional industry events and client meetings while supporting safe, high-quality project delivery.
What We're Looking For
  • 8+ years of experience in industrial or commercial construction across preconstruction, estimating, project management, or business development.
  • Demonstrated success managing client relationships and coordinating cross-functional teams.
  • Solid understanding of estimating, bid development, and the broader preconstruction process.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent organization, initiative, and ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the assigned region to meet with clients and internal teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related degree
Why This Role Stands Out

This opportunity offers direct ownership of key client relationships and the full preconstruction pursuit process, with close collaboration across estimating, operations, and commercial teams. The role has a meaningful hand in shaping which projects the region pursues and how those opportunities are won.

The organization offers medical, dental, and vision coverage; a 401(k) with company match; paid time off and holidays; life and disability insurance; professional development opportunities; and an employee assistance program. Eligibility may vary by employment classification and hours worked.

At Workspire, we partner exclusively with organizations that value experienced leadership, operational discipline, and long term investment in talent. Every opportunity we represent is vetted for impact, advancement potential, and cultural alignment because where and how you work matters.
