Job summary

JP Cullen seeks a construction preconstruction intern in Madison, WI to support planning, scheduling, budgeting, and bid efforts. The role involves take-offs, subcontractor bid coverage, and maintaining preconstruction data and tools under the Director of Preconstruction.

Responsibilities include cost databases, scheduling, scope review, material pricing, site observations, and document management while collaborating with trade teams and field personnel.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or Business
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Basic math and Excel/Office skills

Responsibilities

• Assist in take-off assignments and quantify scopes of work
• Help secure subcontractor bids and coverage across trades
• Support phasing, scheduling, and creating accurate trade schedules
• Utilize historical labor data to price self-performed work
• Update conceptual cost databases with current subcontractor pricing
• Coordinate scope letters and review to ensure complete proposals
• Obtain material pricing from suppliers for preformed work
• Attend pre-bid site visits and capture conditions
• Help manage project documents used in preconstruction
• Assist the team with problem solving and decision-making during preconstruction
