Job summary

Jobot is seeking an Estimator to join our preconstruction team in the Chicago area. The role focuses on developing comprehensive cost estimates and bid packages for commercial, healthcare, and food-service projects.

You will perform quantity takeoffs, coordinate with design and construction partners, and participate in value engineering to ensure constructability and cost effectiveness. Local travel to job sites may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3+ years of estimating experience (commercial construction preferred).
• Proficiency in takeoff and estimating software, and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed cost estimates (conceptual, schematic, design development, bid) for commercial, healthcare, and food-service projects.
• Perform quantity takeoffs from architectural, structural, mechanical, and civil plans.
• Coordinate with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors to collect pricing and refine cost models.
• Conduct constructability reviews and value-engineering to align cost with client goals.
• Build and maintain unit cost and historical cost databases.
