Job summary

Tusco, Inc. in Huntsville, AL is seeking an Estimating Specialist to support the Preconstruction team with estimates, quantity takeoffs, and cost development for assigned projects. You will review drawings, specs, and bid documents to develop accurate scopes and pricing.

This role collaborates with the Preconstruction Manager to track bid deadlines, maintain estimating data in CRM, coordinate with vendors, and prepare bid summaries and proposals. Travel to project sites may be required as needed.

Qualifications

• Associate's or bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Building Science, Engineering, Business, or related field.
• Experience in estimating or construction coordination preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specs.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; Excel expertise.
• Strong math and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation of estimates and proposals for assigned projects.
• Review drawings, specifications, manuals, bid documents, and other project information to understand project requirements and assist with scope development.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and assist with developing material, equipment, subcontractor, and other project costs.
• Solicit, obtain, and evaluate pricing and supporting information from vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors.
• Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to confirm scope requirements, pricing, and bid deadlines.
• Identify missing information, scope discrepancies, and pricing requirements within project documents and coordinate follow-up as needed.
• Monitor bid invitations, project correspondence, and incoming leads to identify new opportunities and required actions.
• Maintain accurate and complete opportunity information within FollowUp CRM, including project stages, bid dates, contacts, activities, and status updates.
• Assist with maintaining the Master Bid & Sales Log and other Preconstruction tracking and reporting tools.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and project walkthroughs as required.
• Assist with preparing scope documentation, bid summaries, proposals, and supporting estimating documentation.
• Maintain organized project files, takeoffs, vendor quotations, correspondence, and other estimate documentation.
• Support the Preconstruction Manager in tracking active opportunities, bid requirements, deadlines, and outstanding information.
• Support the Preconstruction team throughout the bidding process from initial project review through proposal submission and project turnover.
• Other duties as assigned.
