Job summary

DN is seeking a Preconstruction Estimating Co-op in Irving, TX. You will assist regional estimators with site conditions, tank site layouts, earthwork takeoffs, and subcontractor bid preparation.

This internship offers mentorship, hands-on exposure to Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and Excel, and a chance to learn the lifecycle of heavy-civil construction projects from conception to completion.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an Engineering or Construction Management undergraduate program.
• A concentration in Civil Engineering is preferred.
• Experience with CAD software and Microsoft Office is expected.
• Strong communication and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist Regional Estimators with evaluating project site conditions and creating tank site layout drawings in AutoCAD.
• Prepare earthwork takeoffs using Civil 3D and sitework cost estimates in Excel.
• Solicit bid level pricing for cranes, rebar installation, fence work, and other subcontractor scopes.
• Prepare Requests for Quotation after subcontractors are identified.
• Gain insight into developing and bidding construction projects.
• Visit local tank construction sites.

Qualifications:

$24 - $24 an hour

DN offers a starting hourly rate of $24 per hour for interns and co‑op students. This compensation is based on market rates and determined by considering many factors such as external market salary survey data, internal data for comparable roles, and the operational and budgetary objectives of the company.
