Job summary

Barnhill Contracting Co. in Raleigh is seeking a part-time Preconstruction Engineer Intern to support project teams with schedules, BIM coordination, and procurement tasks. The role emphasizes learning design interpretation, constructability reviews, and effective collaboration with mentors.

You will assist in documenting submittals, change orders, RFIs, and project closeouts while gaining hands-on experience with field operations and safety practices in a busy construction environment.

Qualifications

• Assist in managing project schedules, BIM coordination, material procurement, subcontractors, resources and project documentation.
• Process Owner/Subcontractor Change Orders, RFIs and project closeout in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with project team in preconstruction activities and learn design interpretation and constructability review.

Responsibilities

• Conduct frequent site inspections to ensure installations meet submittals and quality standards.
• Prepare and maintain contract drawings and specs with updates for field operations.
• Record and distribute meeting minutes and support design teammates on conflict resolution.
