The Preconstruction Engineer / Estimator is responsible for assisting in the development of the construction estimate. This individual leads throughout the bid process by managing and coordinating incoming bid information, while learning how to manage, coordinate, and prepare detailed pricing for individual disciplines of larger projects up to detailed estimates for smaller projects in a timely manner.

• Understands the importance of interacting with and maintaining positive working relationships with owners, architects, and subcontractors.
• Participates in organizations that serve to promote the interests of Leapley Construction Group.
• Represents Leapley Construction Group at pre-bid meetings and site walks/surveys.

Preconstruction

• Review design documents to determine the necessary trades required to bid a complete project.
• Prepare detailed scope sheets for individual disciplines on a large project, using this same approach for all disciplines on smaller projects.Perform quantity takeoffs to support scope sheets and validate pricing.
• Communicate clearly with Leapley’s subcontractor partners.
• Develop a working knowledge of material unit costs, systems unit costs, and buildout square foot costs.
• Has a working knowledge of all plans, specifications, and documents assigned.
• Become familiar with all policies and procedures as they relate to this position.
• Gain an understanding of the requirements of working within various buildings throughout Atlanta.

Responsibilities

• Manage incoming invitations to bid by organizing and distributing information as it is received.
• Issue invitations to bid to subcontractor partners.Receive and organize incoming subcontractor bids for review by the team.
• Identify, coordinate, and track key dates and deliverables.
• Assist in maintaining internal historical cost, project, and subcontractor databases.
• Assist the entire team (Business Development, Project Management, Marketing, etc.) with the generation of preconstruction material for presentation purposes.
• Actively participates with internal team(s) with a focus on continuous improvements of the business and its processes.

Technical Skills

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
• Proficient in Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, Building Connected, Microsoft Project, various FTP/document sites
