Job summary

MMR Group seeks a Preconstruction Engineer in Baton Rouge, LA, to support estimating, budgeting, and front-end coordination for electrical and instrumentation projects.

Responsibilities include takeoffs, developing budgets, preparing work packages, and pricing materials. A Construction Management degree or related experience is required, with flexibility for varied hours as needed.

Qualifications

  • BS in Construction Management or related field is preferred.
  • In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 2 years of Field or Project Engineer experience in electrical construction is required.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical drawing packages and specifications.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize, organize, problem solve, and exercise good judgment with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Perform engineered estimates and takeoffs for procurement.
  • Develop project budgets and project tracking systems.
  • Assist with building work packages for project execution teams.
  • Price materials and perform bulk buyouts.
  • Work with clients for front end trade coordination.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor and upper management.

Job Description

MMR is seeking Preconstruction Engineer candidates with a degree in Construction Management or industry related equivalent. The responsibilities would include, but not limited to, the following:

  • Perform engineered estimates and takeoffs for procurement
  • Develop project budgets and project tracking systems

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • BS in Construction Management or related field

  • Working knowledge of MS Office software
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills

  • Willingness to work flexible, varying hours, including evenings and weekends as needed
  • Regular and reliable attendance at work
