Trane Technologies has an exciting opportunity for a Preconstruction Developer serving the Upstate New York area. As a Preconstruction Developer, you will support turnkey design-build contracting projects, including scope of work development, cost estimating, and proposal support as part of Trane Energy Services.

Qualifications

  • Four-year degree in Engineering or Construction Management and/or HVACR related work experience.
  • Working knowledge of construction facets including mechanical, electrical, plumbing systems and HVAC systems.
  • Flexibility to work outside normal hours and travel, including overnight stays.
  • Valid driver’s license for at least 12 months with clean record.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, evaluates, and discusses possible turnkey HVAC solutions with Account Manager, Project Manager, Sub-contractor, Supplier, and/or customer.
  • Collects project data to assemble turnkey project scope and estimate.
  • Uses plans and specs to analyze project needs and compile detailed cost estimates.
  • Supports budgeting for installation and prepares subcontractor RFQ documents (scope, plans, milestones, specs, permits).
  • Creates cost estimates for materials, subcontractors, equipment, labor, and related activities to assist bidding.
  • Performs take-offs and pricing of purchased equipment for accurate quantities and configurations.
  • Communicates, schedules, analyzes information, and handles estimating duties.
  • Reviews bid documents for conflicts and constructability issues.
  • Communicates with customers and subcontractors on changes to estimates and ensures project needs are met.
  • Provides technical support in pursuing Trane business and participates on strategic acquisition teams.
  • Maintains subcontractor relations and evaluates potential contractors.
  • Supports acquisition efforts and customer satisfaction; some travel required.

Trane Technologies has an exciting opportunity for a Preconstruction Developer serving the Upstate New York area. As a Preconstruction Developer, you will be supporting one of the most challenging and fastest growing career fields, Trane Technologies Energy Services. This role includes working with internal teams and customers to identify and develop turnkey design-build contracting projects, including scope of work development, cost estimating, and proposal support as part of an industry leading Energy Services Company (ESCO). A career with an ESCO demands not only a knowledge of building systems and all aspects of its construction, but also requires strong interpersonal, teamwork and communication skills coupled with the will, determination, work ethic and a desire to succeed. The Preconstruction Developer is responsible for Acquisition Support of both Design-Build Turnkey and Energy Services Contracting project work. This position requires mastery of acquisition, technical aptitude, and project management skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develops, evaluates, and discusses possible turnkey HVAC solutions with Account Manager, Project Manager, Sub-contractor, Supplier, and/or customer.
  • Collects project data needed to assemble turnkey project scope and estimate.
  • Utilizes plans, specifications, and knowledge of construction industry to analyze project needs and compiles detailed cost estimates.
  • Supports Account Managers in developing and establishing project installation budgets and preparing the sub-contractor request for quotation’s (RFQ) including: scope statements; plans and milestone dates; specs; permitting and bonding requirements.
  • Responsible for creating cost estimates consisting of materials, sub-contractors, purchased equipment, labor (start-up, service work, etc.), and other construction-related activities to assist Account Managers in bidding on or determining price of project.
  • Responsible for the take-off and pricing of purchased equipment to ensure accuracy of quantity, size, configuration, voltage, options, etc.
  • Able to communicate, schedule, analyze information, and take responsibility for estimating duties.
  • Review bid documents for potential conflicts and constructability issues.
  • Communicate with customer, subcontractors, engineers, and designers on changes or adjustments for estimates and ensure all project needs are met.
  • Provide key technical support in pursuit of Trane business, including participation on strategic job acquisition teams.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining subcontractor relations, along with evaluating and categorizing subcontractors.
  • Assist and support all efforts of acquisition and customer satisfaction.
  • Some travel required; other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Four-year degree in Engineering or Construction Management Project Management and/or HVACR related work experience required.
  • Working knowledge of all facets of construction including mechanical, electrical, plumbing systems and knowledge with the operation of HVAC systems, electrical systems and temperature controls.
  • Flexibility to work outside normal work hours/weekends, as required, including some travel with occasional overnight stays.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations including, but not limited to: DUI, Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless / Carless Driving, or multiple smaller infractions or preventable collisions in the previous 3 years.
