The role oversees EPCM and construction contractors, ensuring design for constructability, GMP compliance, and CQV readiness while guiding risk management and stakeholder coordination. You will lead constructability reviews, develop execution plans, and oversee integration of design, procurement, and construction with a focus on safety and efficiency across all phases from planning

Qualifications

• 20+ years of industrial construction experience, including leadership roles on large capital projects.
• Minimum 10 years managing preconstruction and constructability programs on large capital projects.
• Experience supporting projects greater than $500 million TIC.
• Experience with pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life sciences facilities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead constructability program and governance across design, procurement, and execution phases.
• Develop and implement construction execution plans, sequencing, and site strategy; evaluate modularization/off-site fabrication opportunities.
• Provide owner oversight of design development to ensure constructability, operability, and CQV readiness; resolve interfaces.
• Ensure GMP manufacturing areas, cleanrooms, HVAC, process piping and utilities meet project requirements and regulatory expectations.
• Support construction readiness, logistics, and Advanced Work Packaging planning; align milestones across procurement, engineering, and construction.
• Identify and manage construction risks; develop contingency plans and drive risk workshops; communicate findings to leadership.
• Coordinate with engineering, procurement, controls, CQV, operations, and contractors; present constructability findings and recommendations.

Job description

Title: Preconstruction & Constructability Manager KBR Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) provides holistic and value-added solutions across the entire asset life cycle. These include world-class licensed process technologies, differentiated advisory services, deep technical domain expertise, energy transition solutions, high-end design capabilities, and smart solutions to optimize planned and operating assets. KBR is seeking an experienced Construction Quality Manager to oversee construction quality performance for a major pharmaceutical manufacturing project. This role will have the oversight of EPCM contractors, construction contractors, suppliers, and inspectors to ensure all construction activities meet project specifications, GMP requirements, industry standards, and regulatory expectations. The successful candidate will play a key leadership role in delivering a world-class facility through construction, commissioning, qualification, and startup.

Functional job responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

Constructability Leadership

Develop and implement the project's Constructability Program and governance process. Lead formal constructability reviews during conceptual design, FEL, FEED, detailed design, procurement, and execution phases. Facilitate multidisciplinary constructability workshops involving engineering, operations, maintenance, CQV, procurement, and construction stakeholders. Maintain and manage the Constructability Action Register and ensure timely closure of action items. Evaluate design packages to ensure safe and efficient field installation, commissioning, maintenance, and future operational requirements

Preconstruction Planning

Lead development of construction execution plans and overall site construction strategy. Establish construction sequencing, work packaging, and execution philosophies. Evaluate and recommend modularization, prefabrication, and off-site fabrication opportunities. Support the development of contractor bid packages, construction requirements and prequalification criteria. Support site logistics planning, material flow strategies, and laydown area development.

Design and Engineering Integration

Provide owner oversight of EPCM design development to ensure constructability considerations are incorporated. Review engineering deliverables for installation efficiency, accessibility, operability, maintainability, and CQV readiness. Coordinate engineering-construction interfaces and resolve potential execution conflicts. Drive early identification of construction risks and mitigation strategies.

Pharmaceutical Facility Planning

Ensure constructability considerations are incorporated into: GMP manufacturing areas Cleanrooms HVAC systems Process piping systems Clean utilities Automation systems Laboratories Warehousing and logistics facilities Support design decisions that facilitate commissioning, qualification, validation, and startup activities.

Construction Readiness

Support construction readiness and stage-gate review processes. Evaluate contractor execution plans, staffing plans, schedules, logistics plans, and construction methodologies. Support development of Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) and workface planning strategies. Ensure procurement, engineering, and construction milestones are integrated and achievable.

Risk Management

Identify and manage construction execution risks during all project phases. Support project risk workshops and mitigation planning. Evaluate impacts of design changes on cost, schedule, safety, quality, and execution. Develop contingency plans for critical field execution risks.

Stakeholder Coordination

Serve as the primary owner representative for constructability and preconstruction planning activities. Interface with engineering, procurement, project controls, construction management, QA/QC, CQV, operations, and contractors. Present constructability findings, recommendations, and risk assessments to project leadership.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, Architecture, or related technical discipline.
• 20+ years of industrial construction experience, including leadership roles on large capital projects.
• Minimum 10 years managing preconstruction and constructability programs on large capital projects.
• Demonstrated experience supporting projects greater than $500 million TIC.
• Experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life sciences, semiconductor, or other highly regulated facilities preferred.
• Experience with EPC, EPCM, and owner-side project delivery models.
