Job summary

Steffes Corporation in Shelby, NC is seeking a skilled welder to operate various welding tools and read drawings to meet customer requirements. You may perform basic robot operation, load/unload parts, and conduct daily TPMs while following standard work and procedures.

The role emphasizes collaboration, problem-solving, and adherence to EHS and quality goals. A High School diploma or GED and welding certification/experience are preferred, with overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required or preferred.
• Welding certification(s) and/or experience preferred.
• Basic computer knowledge (Windows, email, internet)
• Basic math skills
• Reading skills (instructional and technical information)
• An acceptable combination of education and experience

Responsibilities

• Operate various types of welding tools and hand tools (die grinders, angle grinders, etc).
• Read drawings, blueprints, and heat numbers when applicable.
• Follow standard work, training guides, weld procedures, and acceptance criteria to meet customer requirements.
• May be responsible for basic robot operation, including loading/unloading parts and daily TPMs.
• Perform basic problem solving and decision making.
• Follow build boards and Kanban system requirements.
• Report inconsistencies and/or defects in material, product, or equipment.
• Make adjustments to fab parts for proper alignment.
• Maintain a positive work atmosphere through collaboration with customers, suppliers, coworkers, and management.
• Support the company in achieving Strategic, Quality and Safety objectives.
• Position may require overtime hours.
• Other duties may be assigned.
