Job summary

A. O. Smith Corporation is seeking a 1st Shift Operator to support the manufacturing of water heater components. You will cross-train across departments, follow quality and safety standards, and use measurement tools and production schedules to meet daily requirements.

You will monitor production, conduct quality checks, and assist with training while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment on the factory floor.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.required.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and production specifications.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to operate complex machinery.
• Basic computer skills including SAP for accessing blueprints.
• Must be able to work overtime and weekends as required.

Responsibilities

• Monitor area machines and adjust settings to maintain quality and output.
• Perform quality checks to ensure specifications are met.
• Keep work area clean and organized with proper safety practices.
• Follow safety guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
• Ensure machines are ready and safe at shift start.
• Assist and train new team members on operations and equipment.
• Demonstrate attention to detail for high-quality output on schedule.
• Operate and troubleshoot machinery with mechanical understanding.
• Use measuring tools to verify dimensions and tolerances.
