Job summary

True North Consultants, Inc. seeks an experienced Toolmaker for its Hastings, Michigan facility. You will build, repair, and maintain dies, molds, jigs, and production tooling for high-volume manufacturing, reading engineering drawings and CAD prints to select methods and materials.

You will set up and operate manual and CNC Tool Room equipment, perform precision machining, and inspect components to tight tolerances while contributing to safety and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completed Tool & Die or Toolmaker apprenticeship with 4+ years toolmaker experience, or 8+ years progressive toolmaking experience.
• Experience reading engineering drawings, blueprints, CAD prints and technical documentation.
• Experience operating manual machines and CNC Tool Room equipment.
• Proficient with precision measuring instruments and tight tolerances.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Build, repair, modify, and maintain precision tooling for high-volume manufacturing.
• Interpret drawings, blueprints, CAD prints to determine methods and materials.
• Plan and perform precision machining, bench work, fitting, and finishing of tooling components.
• Set up, operate, and maintain mills, lathes, drills, grinders, and CNC Tool Room equipment.
• Perform precision surface grinding and inspect tooling for conformance to specs.
• Diagnose tool failures and implement repairs to minimise downtime.
• Maintain a clean, safe Tool Room and support continuous improvement.
