Job summary

Salas O'Brien is seeking an experienced Toolmaker to support precision machining at the Pantex Plant. The role involves constructing, modifying, and repairing tooling, jigs, fixtures, dies, and precision components from drawings and CNC programs.

Candidates must have a high school diploma and either an approved 8,000-hour Toolmaker/Tool and Die apprenticeship or at least four years of related experience, plus the ability to obtain a DOE Q clearance and HRP certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent meeting DOE requirements.
• Completion of an approved 8,000-hour Toolmaker/Tool and Die/apprenticeship or 4+ years related experience.
• Experience with conventional and CNC machining equipment.
• Ability to read/interpret sketches and tooling specifications.
• Experience performing complex setups to tight tolerances.
• Ability to obtain DOE Q clearance and HRP certification.

Responsibilities

• Operate conventional and CNC machine tools to construct/modify/repair tooling and fixtures.
• Plan and perform complex machining from drawings and instructions.
• Set up machines and produce components to specified dimensions and tolerances.
• Use precision measuring tools to verify accuracy and quality.
• Write or edit CNC programs as required.
• Maintain records and ensure equipment and tooling are maintained.
