Qualifications

• Four years' experience as a Tool Room Machinist or a Journeyman.
• Mathematical aptitude and strong math skills including geometry, algebra, and trigonometry.
• Mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of machines, tools, screws, threads, and tapers.
• Production and processing aptitude including knowledge of raw materials, production processes, and quality control.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, complicated drawings, and specifications.
• Critical thinking to detect issues and solve problems in manufacturing.
• Familiarity with metals, alloys, and tool steels; ability to fabricate sheet metal, TIG welding, and braze.
• Capable of holding precise dimensions with close tolerances and aligning components.

Responsibilities

• Analyze specifications from blueprints, sketches, or descriptions and visualize parts.
• Develop specifications from general descriptions and create drawings.
• Compute dimensions and plan layouts for operations.
• Use precision measuring equipment to ensure tolerances.
• Repair, replace, adjust, and align machinery and components.
• Set up and operate machine tools (lathe, milling machine, grinder).
• Test machines after repair to ensure proper operation.
• Fabricate, repair, and maintain dies, fixtures, and special tooling.
• Work from simple to complex drawings and suggest design improvements.
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment in line with procedures.
