Job summary

Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope is seeking a Tool and Die Maker to fabricate, repair, and maintain precision tools, dies, and fixtures for our manufacturing processes. You will interpret engineering drawings, operate lathes, mills, grinders, and perform precise fittings to meet design specs.

Collaboration with engineers and production teams is essential to optimize tooling solutions. The role requires strong attention to detail, experience as a machinist, and proficiency with measurement tools.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in tool and die making recommended.
• Proven experience as a machinist with strong fabrication understanding.
• Able to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specs.
• Knowledge of milling, turning, and grinding machining processes.
• Experience with precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges).
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Knowledge of CAD software for tool design/modification is a plus.
• Attention to detail and quality workmanship.
• Good organizational and time management skills.
• Effective communication and teamwork with cross-functional groups.

Responsibilities

• Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine tool and die requirements.
• Fabricate and shape tools and dies using lathes, milling machines, and grinders.
• Set up and operate precision measuring instruments to verify dimensions and tolerances.
• Perform precision fitting, assembly, and adjustment of tool components.
• Repair and maintain tools and dies by addressing wear or damage.
• Collaborate with engineers and production teams on tooling solutions.
• Test and trial new or modified tools/dies for functionality.
• Identify process improvements to enhance efficiency.
• Maintain safety and cleanliness in the work area.
• Keep detailed maintenance and tooling records.
