Job summary

Adecco is seeking a Die Maker for an on-site role in Morton Grove, IL. The position requires setting up and operating machine tools to fabricate and repair cutting tools, fixtures, and gauges, aligning with blueprints and drawings.

The Die Maker will read specifications, measure parts, verify dimensions, and communicate with the team to ensure quality and on-time production. Hours are M-F, 5:00am–1:30pm, with competitive hourly pay.

Qualifications

• Requires a High School diploma or GED with a minimum of 4 years of trade school, vocational education, apprenticeship or work experience in production die building and repair.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and tool descriptions.
• Ability to read machine controls and computer screens.
• Near acuity for reading gauges and measuring instruments used in inspection.

Responsibilities

• Reads and interprets specifications, such as blueprints, sketches, or tool description, and plans sequence of operations.
• Measures, marks, and scribes metal stock to lay out work pieces for machining.
• Operate and set up machine tools such as lathe, milling machine, machining center, EDM Wire machine, and grinder.
• Positions and secure parts on surface plate or worktable, using vises, V-blocks, and angle plates.
• Fits and assembles parts into assemblies or mechanisms, using hand tools.
• Verifies dimensions and alignment, using measuring instruments such as micrometers, height gauges, and gauge blocks.
• Develops specifications from general descriptions and drafts tools to be fabricated.
• Communicates with co-workers and supervisor to receive instructions and coordinate activities.
• Inputs labor into the data collection terminals.
• Perform daily and weekly PM checks, maintaining coolant levels, general housekeeping of work area and ensuring all safety devices are operational.
• (May) heat treats tools or parts.
