Job summary

Valmont Industries, Inc. in Valley, Nebraska, seeks an experienced Tool and Die Maker to fabricate dies, fixtures and tooling, read blueprints, and program CNC equipment.

The role involves dimensioning, trigonometry, AutoCAD/Fusion modeling, and maintaining quality and safety in a high‑precision shop. The ideal candidate has an associate degree or substantial equivalent experience, experience with heat treatment, welding, and operation of CNC mills/lathes, plus forklift familiarity.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree with 3+ years related work experience OR 7+ years related work experience.
• Successfully complete Toolmaker and Machinist tests and hands‑on tests.
• 3 years of experience reading and interpreting various types of blueprints or process sheets.
• Experience with heat treatments of ferrous material through hardening and surface hardening.
• Construction and troubleshooting of dies, fixtures tooling and mechanical components.
• The ability to demonstrate the fundamentals of dimensional precision measurement and tolerancing using all micrometer types, calipers, indicators, thread gauges.
• The ability to proficiently operate CNC mills and lathes; read CAD drawings in AutoCAD 2010+.

Responsibilities

• Review job instructions and prints for accuracy.
• Ensure safety and adherence to company safety policies.
• Plan material use and select machines for efficient work.
• Program CNC machines from print data and CAD coordinates.
• Operate lathes, mills, drills, grinders; inspect finished parts.
• Weld mild steel with wire feed or stick as required.
• Maintain clean and safe work area and communicate progress to lead.
