Job summary

Express Skilled Trades - Kansas City is seeking a Precision TIG Fabrication Welder to join our manufacturing team. You will weld stainless and carbon steel, read blueprints, and perform full-position welds including 6G on pipe and assemblies.

You’ll set up equipment, fit and weld to drawings, inspect welds for penetration and defects, and help maintain tools and safety standards in a busy production environment.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of professional TIG/GTAW experience.
• Proven TIG capability on stainless and carbon steel.
• Flux Core (FCAW) welding experience is required.
• Pipe and/or fabricated metal welding background with 6G proficiency.
• Reading drawings, weld symbols, and technical documentation.
• Experience in fitting, fabrication, layout, and assembly.
• Knowledge of specs, dimensions, tolerances, and quality criteria.
• Detail focus, problem solving, and clear communication.
• Ability to work independently and in a production team environment.
• Overtime or weekend availability as required.

Responsibilities

• Weld stainless and carbon steel using TIG/GTAW and FCAW as needed.
• Interpret blueprints and welding symbols to spec.
• Set up equipment: amperage, filler/wire, tungsten, gas.
• Fit-up, alignment, and tacking of components.
• Pipe and structural fabrication per drawings.
• Control heat input to minimize distortion.
• Inspect welds for penetration and defects.
• Maintain tools and welding equipment; report issues.
• Adhere to safety, quality, and production standards.

Can you switch from a tight-root pass on pipe to a clean cap on a stainless assembly without missing a beat? Are you equally at home with GTAW and FCAW in flat, vertical, overhead—and 6G?
