Job summary

Wastequip is seeking a Helper/Cleaner/Finisher at our Beeville, TX location. You will clean, grind, and sand surfaces of components and finished products prior to painting, ensuring a smooth, unmarred finish.

The role includes assisting welders, setting up materials, lifting items with hoists or forklift, and performing light maintenance on equipment. The position offers second shift hours and a competitive pay rate with a shift differential.

Responsibilities

• Examines and feels surface of workpiece for defects
• Selects abrasive wheel or disk according to specifications and attaches to grinder
• Starts grinder and moves it over surface to remove scratches, laminated metal, excess weld material, and burs
• Polishes ground areas with finer abrasive to produce a smooth, unmarred surface
• Replaces worn abrasive disks or wheels
• Assists welders with non-welding tasks in preparation for welding and sets up weld table with material
• Lifts and loads work materials using hoists, cranes, or forklift
• Assists welders in loading or moving heavy workpieces during operations
• Performs sub assembly work as needed
• Uses bracing and measurement tools
• Assists welders in bolting metal components
• Performs preventative maintenance of welding equipment and tools
• Cleans workpieces as necessary with grinder or scraper
