Job summary

PI (Physik Instrumente), LP in Shrewsbury, MA is seeking a LinearPrecision Grinder for its advanced manufacturing assembly department. This full-time role runs Monday–Friday, 7am–3:30pm and focuses on high-precision surface grinding to support prototype and low-volume production of critical components.

The ideal candidate has experience in Precision Surface Grinding with stringent tolerances, reading blueprints, and applying lean manufacturing principles.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Experience with machining and grinding concepts, techniques and strategies.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and related work instructions.
• Working knowledge of grinding fundamentals gained through experience and training.

Responsibilities

• Surface grinding components used in our air bearing product line.
• Own precision flat grinding operations using surface grinders (Okamoto).
• Transform prototypes to low-volume production parts with strict tolerances.
• Perform in-process and final inspections and ensure specifications are met.
• Interpret engineering drawings and process parts with minimal supervision.
• Maintain alignment with production schedules, cost objectives, and quality standards.
• Apply 5S and lean manufacturing principles in ISO 9001 compliance.
