Job summary

American Crane & Equipment Corporation is seeking an Industrial Fitter for the 1st shift at our Douglassville, PA facility. This hands-on role concentrates on layout, fit-up, and the preparation of large structural components before welding, with accuracy as the sole priority.

You will layout, align, clamp, and tack components to blueprint tolerances, verify dimensions with precision tools, and perform rework as needed to ensure final weld quality. On-site, Monday–Friday, 5:00 AM–1:30 PM.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 3+ years of structural fitting or layout experience in an industrial setting.
• Experience with heavy plate, large weldments, and fabricated assemblies preferred.
• Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
• Proficiency with layout, fit-up, and structural alignment techniques.
• Working knowledge of tack welding to secure components for final weld.
• Precision measurement and tolerance verification skills.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and measurement accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Layout, fit, and assemble structural steel components prior to welding.
• Align, clamp, and tack components to meet blueprint and tolerance requirements.
• Verify dimensions, squareness, and fit-up using precision measuring tools.
• Perform rework—grinding, torching, or adjusting—to correct fit-up before final welding.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and schematics.
• Fabricate and assemble structural and machine components to tolerance.
• Tack weld to hold components in place for final welding.
• Set up material and components for efficient welder handoff.
• Identify and flag fit-up or material issues before they reach final weld.
• Operate cranes, forklifts, and other material-handling equipment.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace.
• Participate in cross-training and continuous development.
