Job summary

American Crane & Equipment Corporation is seeking an Industrial Fitter for the 1st shift at our Douglassville, PA facility. This hands-on role concentrates on layout, fit-up, and the preparation of large structural components before welding, with accuracy as the sole priority.

You will layout, align, clamp, and tack components to blueprint tolerances, verify dimensions with precision tools, and perform rework as needed to ensure final weld quality. On-site, Monday–Friday, 5:00 AM–1:30 PM.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 3+ years of structural fitting or layout experience in an industrial setting.
• Experience with heavy plate, large weldments, and fabricated assemblies preferred.
• Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
• Proficiency with layout, fit-up, and structural alignment techniques.
• Working knowledge of tack welding to secure components for final weld.
• Precision measurement and tolerance verification skills.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and measurement accuracy.

Overview

Every weld is only as good as the fit‑up beneath it. This hands‑on structural fitting role focuses on the layout, alignment, and fit‑up of large steel components before welding. Accuracy is the sole priority.

First 90‑Day Success Plan

Days 1–30

• Learn ACECO fabrication standards, tolerances, and safety requirements.
• Familiarize yourself with layout tools, measuring equipment, and blueprint conventions.
• Begin performing fit‑up work under guidance from experienced fitters.

Days 31–60

• Lay out and fit structural steel components independently to blueprint tolerance.
• Verify dimensions, squareness, and alignment consistently without rework.
• Develop a working rhythm with welders and shop leads on handoff quality.

Days 61–90

• Handle complex, large‑scale weldment fit‑up with minimal oversight.
• Catch and correct fit‑up issues before they reach final weld.
• Demonstrate consistent accuracy and reliability across varied assemblies.
