A day in this role You start your day reviewing the job travelers and mechanical blueprints for the next build. With calipers and a tape in hand, you verify critical dimensions, plan your fit-up, and choose TIG or MIG based on alloy and thickness. By mid-morning, you’re laying precise beads—TIG on 0.030" aluminum for a tight, clean corner; MIG on 1/2" mild steel for strength and consistency. After lunch, you prep and finish welds, inspect your work against the drawings, and collaborate with teammates from other departments to keep parts moving. You close out by cleaning your work area and noting any improvements for the next run.
