Job summary

Laurel Machine & Foundry is seeking an operator to support mold making and casting operations. The role involves adhering to safety rules, assisting with calibration of sand mixing equipment, and inspecting patterns, cores, and molds throughout production.

The candidate will handle release agents, pack sand into mold sections, position cores, and assemble molds for pouring. Basic manufacturing documentation literacy and teamwork are essential for daily tasks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required or preferred.
• Ability to follow plant safety rules and procedures.
• Basic knowledge of manufacturing documentation and work instructions.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to all plant safety rules and procedures.
• May help perform calibration of the Sand Mixer.
• Inspects in-process and finished materials such as patterns, core boxes, tooling, sand molds, and sand cores.
• Sprays or applies release agent onto tooling sections to facilitate mold removal.
• Packs sand into mold sections using hand tools or pneumatic equipment.
• Positions cores into mold sections and assembles for pouring.
• Reinforces cores and molds as needed with re-bar or pipes.
• Cleans and repairs surface imperfections on molds and cores.
• Operates equipment including Sand Mixers, Coating Equipment, Mold Manipulators, Cranes and Forklifts.
• Inspects area equipment as directed and performs miscellaneous duties as required.
