Job summary

Divergent is seeking a skilled Rotary Surface Grinder Operator to set up and run precision grinding processes for high‑value aerospace and defense components. You will review drawings, select wheels and parameters, and inspect finished parts to ensure dimensional accuracy and surface finish.

Qualifications

• Able to lawfully access information and technology subject to US export controls.
• High school diploma, GED, technical certification, or equivalent manufacturing experience.
• Proficient in precision machining and surface grinding.
• Hands-on experience setting up and operating surface grinding equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T.
• Experience holding tight tolerances (±0.0005 inch or tighter).

Responsibilities

• Independently set up and operate rotary surface grinding equipment (Blanchard/Mattison-style, etc.).
• Review drawings, GD&T, work instructions, and inspection requirements prior to machining.
• Develop grinding setups based on material, geometry, stock, tolerance and finish requirements.
• Perform rough and finish grinding while controlling flatness, parallelism, thickness and surface finish.
• Perform in-process and final dimensional inspections with precision measuring tools.
• Identify and correct grinding issues such as chatter, wheel loading, and burn.
