Job summary

Smalley is hiring for a manufacturing operator role in Lake Zurich, IL. You will set up and operate two small flat wire machines, load wire safely, and run tests with precision instruments to ensure wire quality. You will document data and assist cross-departmentally to meet production needs.

The position emphasizes mechanical aptitude, accuracy, and teamwork in a long-established manufacturing environment with opportunities for growth and safety-focused training.

Qualifications

• Experience in a manufacturing or related environment.
• Mechanical experience with high-speed automatic and semi-automatic equipment.
• Set up and adjustment of metal forming processes (stamping, forming, shearing) preferred.
• Experience measuring parts with precision instruments including micrometers, calipers, load testers, etc.

Responsibilities

• Sets up and operates 2 small flat wire machines. Loads wire efficiently and safely using appropriate tools.
• Operates all testing equipment including micrometers, hardness testers, shadowgraphs, etc.
• Completes all data entry transactions in computer for wire data and labeling. Inspects wire quality throughout each step of the set up process.
• Reports problems that arise with machines, materials, jobs, or team members; and offers solutions where possible within the scope of the duties of the job.
• Prepares raw material for production with high quality and within tolerances.
• Provides complete, accurate documentation when required.
• Participates in cross departmental work production based on business needs. Learns and upholds defined quality standards to ensure maximum customer satisfaction and optimize work efficiency.
