Job summary

Texas A&M AgriLife Research invites applications for an Assistant Professor in Precision Ranching. The 12-month, 100% research appointment will be based at San Angelo, Texas, with strong preference to be based at Sonora Experiment Station, serving regional stakeholders through research.

The successful candidate will build an externally funded program applying precision technologies, data-driven decision tools, and integrated resource management to rangeland systems.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Rangeland Science, Biological and Agricultural Engineering, or related field by appointment date.
• Strong expertise in rangeland production systems and management practices.
• Experience with precision agriculture technologies, sensor systems, remote sensing, data analytics, or automation.
• Record of publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a nationally recognized, externally funded research program.
• Conduct fundamental, applied, and translational research on precision ranching technologies.
• Publish results in high-impact journals and present at venues.
• Mentor graduate students and supervise research personnel.
• Secure extramural funding from federal, state, industry, and private sources.
• Collaborate with AgriLife, industry partners, and other stakeholders.
• Translate research outcomes into practical applications.
