Job summary

Westmag is seeking a Quality Technician to assure that every incoming part and every finished motor or actuator meets our strict quality standards. You will inspect components, verify procedures, and document results to support supplier quality and MRB decisions.

You will work closely with Supplier Quality, Manufacturing, and Engineering to catch issues early and protect product reliability from U.S. factories. Experience with GD&T and precision measurement is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; associate degree or technical certificate in quality, manufacturing or engineering is a plus.
• 3+ years of experience in quality inspection, preferably incoming or final inspection in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, including GD&T.
• Hands-on proficiency with precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges and pin and thread gauges.
• Working knowledge of sampling plans, nonconformance reporting and quality management systems such as ISO 9001.
• Strong attention to detail and disciplined, accurate documentation habits.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work with suppliers and cross-functional teams.
• Authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Perform receiving inspection of purchased parts and raw materials using drawings, GD&T, specifications and approved sampling plans (e.g., ANSI/ASQ Z1.4).
• Measure dimensional and functional characteristics with calipers, micrometers, height gauges, pin and thread gauges, optical comparators and Keyence Optical Systems.
• Conduct first article inspections (FAI) on new parts, new suppliers, and revised drawings and document results in standard reports.
• Review supplier documentation, including certificates of conformance, material certifications and test reports, for completeness and accuracy.
• Identify, tag and segregate nonconforming incoming or finished material; write nonconformance reports (NCRs) and support Material Review Board (MRB) dispositions.
• Provide inspection data and evidence to Supplier Quality Engineers to support supplier corrective actions (SCARs) and root-cause investigations.
• Perform final inspection of finished motors and actuators, including visual, dimensional and labeling checks, and confirm required functional tests have passed before release.
• Verify traceability, packaging and shipping paperwork, and prepare certificates of conformance for outgoing shipments.
• Inspect returned products and document findings to support investigations.
• Maintain accurate inspection records in our ERP and MES systems and track trends in supplier quality and incoming and outgoing defect rates.
• Ensure inspection equipment is calibrated, maintained and used correctly, and help develop and improve inspection instructions and checklists.
