Job summary

Steel Technologies is seeking a Packager to set up and operate banding equipment for proper packaging and shipment preparation. You will gain exposure to finished goods and learn about customers and end products.

Key duties include preparing skids, operating banding lines and cranes, and ensuring packaging meets customer specs with strict safety and quality standards. This role emphasizes teamwork and accurate handling of materials.

Qualifications

• Ability to use tape measures, micrometers and calipers to ensure packaging accuracy.
• Adherence to safety rules and requirements in a manufacturing setting.
• Pass forklift and/or crane training and certification where required.
• Ability to sit/stand for extended periods while performing duties.
• Effective communication and teamwork to meet packaging standards.
• Capability to lift up to 75 pounds occasionally and safely handle materials.

Responsibilities

• Prepare skids to customer specifications.
• Operate turnstile, down layer, banding line equipment and crane as needed to package material.
• Package material to meet customer specifications per customer supplied information and standard packaging instructions.
• Ensure proper identification and segregation.
• Operate forklift and/or overhead crane to transport materials to and from storage areas, work stations, and within areas of assignment.
• Safely handle material without damage.
• Clean packaging area or any other assigned area.
• Maintain production standards.
• Load, transport, unload and stack materials in accordance with established procedures.
