QED Technologies in Rochester, NY is seeking a Scientific Software Engineer I for precision optics. You will develop software for metrology and manufacturing systems, under guidance of senior engineers, applying math, physics, and programming to real-world optical hardware.

Collaborate with software, hardware, and applications teams to design, test, and document solutions, with some travel. This is an on-site role with limited remote work opportunities.

Qualifications

• 0–3 years of relevant software development experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering; or Physics/Optics/Engineering with software focus.
• Strong object-oriented programming, debugging, and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong foundation in math, physics, and engineering including linear algebra, probability, and calculus.

Responsabilités

• Analyze software requirements under guidance to determine feasible designs.
• Implement components following architecture and patterns.
• Code, debug, test features for metrology and motion-control capabilities.
• Write readable, well-documented code and support maintenance.
• Collaborate with hardware and systems teams to ensure proper interfaces.
