Job summary

Amarillo Gear Company LLC is seeking a skilled grinder operator to run OD and ID grinding machines, producing precision components per engineering drawings and documentation. The role requires strict adherence to tolerances, setup accuracy, and thorough inspections to ensure part quality.

Qualifications

• Must read blueprints and GD&T specifications accurately
• Experience with precision measuring equipment and grinding principles
• Knowledge of wheel selection, dressing, feeds and speeds
• Experience maintaining close tolerances and fine finishes

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate OD and ID grinding machines per setup sheets and drawings
• Install and true workholding devices, grinding wheels, fixtures, and tooling
• Select, mount, balance, and dress grinding wheels per material and finish requirements
• Use hydraulic press to straighten shaft-style parts as needed
• Set machine speeds, feeds, and grinding parameters to meet specs
• Grind external/internal diameters, shoulders, faces, and tapers to tolerance
• Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections with micrometers, bore gauges, calipers, and dial indicators
• Record labor, quantities, scrap, downtime, and inspections in the scheduling system
• Maintain routine maintenance and report tool/machine issues
