Job description

We are seeking a skilled OD Grinder Operator to set up and operate outside diameter (OD) grinding machines to produce precision-ground components that meet tight dimensional tolerances and quality standards. The ideal candidate has experience with precision grinding, measuring instruments, and interpreting engineering drawings in a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate OD grinding machines to grind cylindrical components to specified dimensions and tolerances.
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions.
• Select and install appropriate grinding wheels, tooling, and fixtures.
• Adjust machine settings, speeds, feeds, and grinding parameters to achieve required specifications.
• Inspect finished parts using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other precision measuring instruments.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and grinding wheel dressing as needed.
• Monitor machining operations and make adjustments to maintain quality and production requirements.
• Identify and troubleshoot machining issues, including dimensional inaccuracies and surface finish defects.
• Maintain accurate production and inspection records.
• Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.

Qualifications

• Previous experience operating OD grinding machines in a precision manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Experience using precision measuring instruments, including micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
• Knowledge of grinding wheel selection, dressing, and machine setup.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain tight tolerances.
• Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with CNC OD grinding machines.
• Familiarity with GD&T and precision inspection methods.
• Experience working with various metals and machined components.
• Manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, grinding operations, and metalworking materials.
• Must be able to follow established safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods.
