Job summary

Comar is seeking a skilled Mold Mechanic I to perform advanced preventive maintenance or repairs on molds and tooling, ensuring they meet specification. You will coordinate with outside shops when needed and track progress accordingly.

The role requires reading blueprints, using precision measuring tools, and operating a range of machine tools. You will train other Mold Mechanic I staff and uphold health, safety, and GMP guidelines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Initiated machinist apprenticeship or journeyman program with measurement technique certification; OR comparable experience.
• 3+ years’ work experience setting up and operating lathes, manual mill, drill press, grinders, sand blaster and other machining equipment.
• 3+ years’ experience using calipers, micrometers, depth gauges and other precision measuring equipment.
• Advanced knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties.

Responsibilities

• Maintain various types of molds through mold breakdowns, cleaning, and preventive maintenance.
• Inspect and measure molds and tooling components to print specifications.
• Operate machines (drill press, lathe, milling machines, band/table saw, sand blaster) to shape metal pieces.
• Fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts and assemble machined components.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, manuals, specifications.
