Job summary

Aerotek is seeking an experienced MIG Welder in Fort Worth, TX. The role focuses on MIG welding with .035 hard wire on thin mild steel, interpreting blueprints and welding symbols, setting up equipment, and delivering precise, high-quality welds in a busy fabrication environment.

You will read blueprints, select welding parameters, fit up parts with fixtures, and produce clean welds while following safety policies in a production shop serving multiple industries.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of welding experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in MIG welding using .035 hard wire on mild steel.
• Ability to set up and adjust welding machines, including amps and volts.
• Strong blueprint reading including weld symbols and WPS interpretation.
• Ability to fit up parts using fixtures and prepare assemblies for welding.
• Accurate measurement using a tape measure and working with precise dimensions.
• Experience with GMAW welding processes and weld symbols.

Responsibilities

• Perform MIG welding using .035 hard wire on mild steel components 1/8" to 1/2" thick, with occasional work on steel up to 1".
• Set up and adjust welding machines independently, including determining amps and volts.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, layouts, dimensions, and welding procedure specifications (WPS).
• Identify and apply correct weld symbols from blueprints to ensure proper weld placement.
• Fit up parts using fixtures and jigs to prepare assemblies for welding.
• Produce clean, smooth welds meeting established quality standards.
• Use measuring tools to verify dimensions and ensure precise fabrication.
• Follow established MIG, FCAW, and GMAW procedures as required by projects.
• Work on projects for rail, transportation, military, construction, and oil & gas industries.
• Collaborate with team members to meet production goals in a busy weld shop.
• Adhere to all safety policies while operating welding equipment.
