Automation Personnel Services seeks a detail-oriented Micro Assembly Technician to support the manufacturing line for optoelectronic LD components in Sugar Land, Texas. The role blends operator and technician duties with hands-on assembly, microscopic inspection, and precise work under a microscope.

The candidate should have 2+ years in micro-scale assembly, strong manual dexterity, and experience reading drawings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years in precision assembly, microelectronics, semiconductor, or related manufacturing.
• Experience working under a microscope for extended periods.
• Hands-on experience handling small, delicate components.
• Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and perform repetitive tasks accurately.
• Basic understanding of cleanroom and ESD practices.
• Experience with laser diode assembly, photonics, or fiber optics.
• Experience with wire bonding or micro-soldering techniques.
• Familiarity with semiconductor or optoelectronics manufacturing processes.
• Able to read basic engineering drawings or schematics.
• Experience with rework and repair of micro-components.
• Exceptional attention to detail.
• Steady hands and precision-focused workmanship.
• Patience for repetitive, delicate tasks.
• Problem-solving mindset for rework and defect identification.
• Strong accountability for quality and output.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Perform precision assembly of optoelectronic components under a microscope.
• Handle microscopic components ranging from 1 mm to 250 microns in size.
• Conduct wire bonding and alignment of wires as small as 1 mil (25 microns).
• Utilize microscopes and precision tools to assemble, align, and inspect parts to tight tolerances.
• Modify assemblies to meet engineering and quality standards as required.
• Follow detailed work instructions, SOPs and drawings with high accuracy.
• Perform in-process inspections to ensure quality and yield targets.
• Maintain proper documentation of completed work including defect tracking.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives related to yield, quality, and efficiency.
• Adhere to cleanroom, ESD, and safety procedures.
